Chamonix Ski Weekend

Introduction

Easyskills icon

Chamonix is one of the finest and most challenging ski resorts anywhere. Situated at the base of Mont Blanc massif, it is unparalleled for the steepness and depth of snow. While it is a mecca for expert skiers, the resort has a great range of conditions suitable for skiers of all abilities. The resort offers all sorts of winter sports activities including snowshoeing, snowboarding, off piste, and cross country.

Chamonix is great for a weekend getaway. Even though it is right in the heart of the Alps, near the Swiss border, it is only just over an hour away from Geneva airport. It’s quite possible to catch a morning flight and be on the slopes by the late afternoon.

The resort lies at the bottom of a valley in the heart of the French Alps, at the foot of Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, and the Grandes Jorasses, The town itself is at 1035 metres, and has cable cars and gondolas from the town and from surrounding villages to several different mountain areas dotted throughout the valley, including Le Brevent, Flegere, Le Tour, Balme and Grands Montets. With in-resort transportation, you can easily get to a great variety of skiing conditions. Most of the resorts ski areas lie at 2000m above sea level, which ensures good snow conditions.
