Expert Multi-Pitch Climbing & Leading

Intro

Difficultskills icon

This course is intended for those who really want to push the boundaries of their climbing, with the intention of being able to climb more difficult routes in the UK and around the world.

It will suit those who wish to consolidate their existing experience, perhaps provide reassurance and revision of sound climbing practices and techniques.

Clients will be encouraged to progress at their own pace and climb routes towards the limits of their ability whilst improving their skills in a safe learning environment.

The course can take place in a variety of locations, including North Wales, the Lake District and Scotland, depending on time of year and instructor availability.

(This course may be combined with the ‘Single pitch', ‘Intro to leading' and ‘Multi pitch' courses that we also offer, to give a six day long trip with the benefit of providing a continuous learning curve throughout the week - see ‘The Complete Climber' course).

You will meet your instructor when you arrive at your accommodation. At this time they will go through plans for the weekend and carry out an equipment check to ensure you have everything you need to enable you to enjoy the following days.

A typical tour itinerary may look like this:

Friday Arrive at venue; meet with your instructor and the rest of your group
Saturday
Basic skills overview and safety briefing, then further tuition on site
Sunday Further training and practice of learned skills

Please note: This itinerary is a guide only. It can be subject to change dependent upon viability, course members' fitness, weather conditions or for any other reason the guide may deem necessary.

Course requirements

It is preferable that you have undertaken our ‘Multi-pitch climber' trip or have experience of the topics covered within that course.

An existing understanding of pertinent factors to take into account when climbing is desirable, such as mountain walking, navigation and weather conditions. The ability to actively participate in decision making processes, such as choice of site and route choice, will ensure that participants will get the most out of the course.

Participants should be prepared for really long days with walking, carrying equipment, general stretching and perhaps the occasional period of bad weather.
