Helvellyn via Striding Edge

Intro

Challengingskills iconskills icon

The Lake District contains some of the most beautiful scenery in England. It has hundreds of fells which create a vast terrain of rugged mountains.

There are few fells which exceed the 3000ft contour, Helvellyn is one of the chosen few. By following the Striding Edge arête, a real sense of mountaineering is added to this outing, this is a mountain not a hill!

A steady nerve and a head for heights is a must to fully enjoy this trip as exposure is big along Striding Edge!

Course Requirements

To do this trip you need to have a good level of fitness, be reasonably sure footed and have a head for heights. This should not be your first mountain outing.  Previous hill walking experience is required and the fitter you are the more you will enjoy your trip.

The day is long, with approximately 6-8 hours of mountain walking. You need to feel comfortable carrying a small day-sack and walking for extended periods, therefore a few training walks and visits to the gym will undoubtedly add to your overall enjoyment of the trip.

We recommend that you follow a fitness plan in preparation for your challenge, an example of one will be sent to you when you have confirmed your booking.

Although the fitness plan we will send to you has been devised by a fitness professional, this is only provided as a guide and you should seek professional advice before starting your own fitness regime.
